Upcoming Road Work for Mid-Missouri from Wednesday, Dec. 1-10

The following is a listing of general highway maintenance and construction work in the mid-Missouri area for Wednesday, Dec. 1 through Friday, Dec. 10, 2010. Weather conditions may cause postponements in the work schedule. Other construction or maintenance work may occur on other roadways throughout the area. Many projects will include lane closures and delays can be expected.

Mowing of right of way is underway in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert to slow moving equipment along the roadside.

Benton County

Daylight Hours

Route 65 from south of Route 52 to just north of the Osage River in Warsaw - Widening highway to four lanes continues.

  • Temporary lane closures on existing Route 65 and Truman Dam Access Road can be expected as the contractor works on box culverts and pipes for the new roadway. Crews will flag traffic through the work areas.

The project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2012.

Route 65 between Route 7 and the Pettis County line - Roadway milling continues through Friday, Dec. 3. Between Route 7 and Cole Camp, one lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area. From Cole Camp to the county line, work will take place in the southbound lanes and one southbound will be open to traffic through the work area.

Route C bridge over Brush Creek, east of the Henry County line - Bridge maintenance and painting continues through Friday, Dec. 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Boone County

Interstate 70 Outer Road bridge over Little Cedar Creek, west of Carter School Road - Bridge maintenance and repair continues through Friday, Dec. 10. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Southbound Route 63 bridge over Turkey Creek, just south of Route AB - Bridge replacement has been completed. Periodic lane closures may occur in the northbound and southbound lanes as the contractor works to remove the temporary bypass used during the bridge replacement. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

South Outer Road of Interstate 70 over Grindstone Creek - Bridge replacement is nearing completion. The bridge is tentatively scheduled to open to traffic the week of Nov. 29. The bridge is located just west of Route Z. Motorists should seek alternate routes around the work area until the bridge opens. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

North Outer Road of Interstate 70, four miles east of Route Z at the Cedar Creek bridge - Bridge replacement continues through mid-December. The bridge is closed to traffic during construction. Motorists should find alternate routes around the work area. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Callaway County

Daylight Hours

Route MM between Route J and end of state maintenance - Roadway patching will take place on Monday, Dec. 6. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route 54 bridge over Business Route 54 in Fulton - Bridge deck maintenance in the eastbound lanes will take place Wednesday, Dec. 8 and Thursday, Dec. 9. One eastbound lane will be open through the work area.

Route 54 bridge over Richland Creek, east of Fulton - Bridge deck maintenance in the eastbound lanes will take place Wednesday, Dec. 1. One eastbound lane will be open to traffic through the work area.

Route 54 bridge over Gateway Railroad, approximately one mile south of County Road 210 - Bridge deck maintenance in the eastbound lanes will take place Thursday, Dec. 2, Monday, Dec. 6 and Tuesday, Dec. 7. One eastbound lane will be open to traffic through the work area.

Business Route 54 at Route O (Second Street) in Fulton - Construction of a new roundabout continues. Business Route 54 south of Route O, and Route O east of Business 54, are closed to traffic during construction. Traffic will be detoured. Access to area businesses remains available. The entire project is scheduled to be complete this winter.

Camden County

Daylight Hours

Route 54 in Linn Creek at the intersections of Route V and Business Park Road/East Valley Drive - Median turn lane construction and intersection improvements.

  • Grading and drainage work continues for the new Business Park Road and East Valley Drive widening. No traffic delays are expected at this time.

This project is scheduled for completion in spring 2011.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route 54 between the Grand Glaize Bridge to west of Route KK in Osage Beach - Grading, drainage work, paving and bridges for the new Route 54 Expressway.

  • The new Case Road overpass is open to traffic and provides access to Broadwater Road and Oak Road. Traffic signals at Case Road and Route 54 have been activated.

  • Grading work continues to tie in the new Jeffries Road to the existing Route 54. One westbound and eastbound lane of Route 54 will periodically be closed during the work. Traffic delays can be expected. Paving for the connection continues.

  • Grading, drainage and erosion control work continues from Nichols Road to Jeffries Road.

  • Grading, drainage and erosion control work continues from Route KK to the west end of the project.

  • Asphalt paving is scheduled to begin the week of Nov. 29 on the new service road from Oak Road to Normandy Road.

  • Grading and asphalt paving is scheduled to begin the week of Nov. 29 on the new service road from Case Road to Mariner Circle.

  • El Terra Lane is closed to traffic. Motorists should use Swiss Village Road for access.

  • The new Swiss Village Road from existing Route KK to old Swiss Village Road is now open to traffic. Traffic is no longer using the existing connection on existing Route 54 and is being detoured to Route KK for one mile and then turn south onto the new Burton Duenke Lane which connects with the new Swiss Village Road.

This portion of the project is scheduled for completion in summer 2011.

Route J bridge over Prairie Hollow, 3.3 miles north of Route 54 - Bridge replacement is completed. The bridge opened to traffic on Tuesday, Nov. 23. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Cole County

Daylight Hours

Route 50/63 between Routes J/M and City View Drive - Concrete replacement in the eastbound and westbound lanes continues through Friday, Dec. 10. One lane in each direction will be open through the work area.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route 54 Eastbound/Route 63 Northbound at the Missouri River Bridge - Construction of a pedestrian/bicycle bridge attachment continues.

  • Work is underway on a pedestrian ramp structure on the north side of the river. Concrete work is taking place on the south end of the pedestrian attachment substructure.

  • The following changes are now in place until spring 2011:

  • The Main Street on ramp to the bridge is closed.

  • Lanes leading up to and crossing the bridge are narrowed. Motorists will cross the bridge

using three 11 ft. lanes.

  • A concrete barrier is installed across the bridge to separate lanes of traffic from the

construction crews and equipment.

  • The shoulder of the bridge, which also currently serves as a pedestrian path, is closed.

Pedestrians should also note that no shoulder is available on the U.S. Route 5 westbound/U.S.

Route 63 southbound bridge leading into Jefferson City.

  • The speed limit is reduced from 60 mph to 45 mph through the area.

  • Crews are erecting steel on the ramp structure north of the river. As crews progress with the work, additional ramp and lane closures may be necessary over the next few weeks.

The project is expected to be complete in late spring 2011.

Cooper County

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route B bridge over Interstate 70 at mile marker 103 - Bridge replacement is completed. The bridge opened to traffic on Saturday, Nov. 20. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Route NN between Route 135 and end of state maintenance - Roadway patching and repair will take place Wednesday, Dec. 8 through Friday, Dec. 10. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route PP between Route 5 and end of state maintenance - Roadway patching and repair will take place Monday, Dec. 6 and Tuesday, Dec. 7. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Maries County

Daylight Hours

Route 28 bridge over Dry Fork Creek - Bridge deck maintenance will take place on Friday, Dec. 3 and Friday, Dec. 10. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 42 between Route T and Route 133 - Culvert pipe replacement continues through Wednesday, Dec. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 42 between Route 28 and County Road 310 - Culvert pipe replacement will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 8. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route V between Route 42 and Route N - Culvert pipe replacement will take place Thursday, Dec. 2 through Tuesday, Dec. 7. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Miller County

Route W between Route 54 and Route Y - Culvert pipe replacement continues through Friday, Dec. 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Moniteau County

Route 179 between Route AA and Moniteau Creek Road - Culvert pipe replacement continues through Friday, Dec. 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route D bridge over Moniteau Creek, east of the Cooper County line - Bridge maintenance continues through Friday, Dec. 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Morgan County

Route 135 between Route 52 and Route BB - Roadway patching and repair continues Monday, Dec. 6 and Tuesday, Dec. 7. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route BB between Route 135 and Route D - Roadway patching and repair continues through Thursday, Dec. 2. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Pettis County

Daylight Hours

Route H between Route 65 and Route D - Roadway patching and repair will take place Thursday, Dec. 2 and Friday, Dec. 3. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route EE between Route J and Route HH - Roadway patching and repair will continue through Wednesday, Dec. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 52 bridge over Persimmon Creek, three miles east of Route B - Bridge replacement continues. The bridge is closed to traffic during construction through early December. Traffic on Route 52 is being detoured around the work area on Routes 127 and B. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Route B bridge over Camp Branch Creek, three miles west of Sedalia - Bridge replacement is nearing completion. The bridge is tentatively scheduled to open to traffic the week of Nov. 29. The bridge is closed to traffic during construction. Traffic on Route B is being detoured around the work area on Routes 65, 52, and E. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Route U bridge over Spring Fork Creek, one mile south of Route V - Bridge replacement continues. Traffic on Route U is being detoured around the work area on Routes V, 65 and 52. The bridge is closed to traffic during construction through late December. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.
