Nine California High School Students to Graduate in December

Each year a few CHS students take the path of early graduation.

This year at CHS, nine students are planning on graduating at semester. By choosing to graduate early, these students forfeit some opportunities, such as attending prom and competing for certain scholarships.

In order to graduate early, students must meet all graduation requirements. Also, students must write a letter to the Board of Education explaining why they wish to graduate early.

"I think that for some students it is a good decision, so they can get right to work or enrolled in a post-secondary school," says CHS guidance counselor Jessica Schaefer.

"I want to graduate early because I would like to get an early start on college," says April Counterman, a December graduate.

In almost all cases, the Board of Education supports students on their decision as long as they have met all the requirements for graduation.
