Distinguished Concerts International in New York City (DCINY) recently announced California High School Choral Director Michele Bilyeu and five members of the CHS Choir have been invited to perform April 18 at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in New York City.
In 2008, Tyler Woods took over the Jefferson City monument business Weide Monument Co. and renamed it Tyler M. Woods Colonial Monument Co. His aim from the start has been to keep costs affordable and monuments personal for his customers.
Loretta Hutchison has helped out with the annual Thanksgiving meal at the California Nutrition Center since 1987. She had heard about the event and was looking for something to fill up the vacant space left after losing her husband the same year. Volunteering at the center and helping out with the meal held by the California Ministerial Alliance has been great for Hutchison and something which has been a blessing for her.
The Moniteau County Commission plans the final signing today (Wednesday) which will add the building at the southeast corner of Main Street and East Street on the Moniteau County Courthouse Square in California to the roll of county-owned properties.
The Jamestown Ministerial Alliance held its annual Community Thanksgiving Service Wednesday, Nov. 24, at New Hope Baptist Church.
CHS will be hosting its annual Financial Aid Night Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.
The California Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team started off the 2010-11 season with a contest at Eldon Nov. 23, where the Pintos captured a 56-37 victory from the Mustangs.
The California Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team opened the 2010-11 season with a game at Eldon Nov. 23, where the Pintos unfortunately pocketed a 41-30 loss to the Mustangs.
The California High School freshman girls basketball team started off the season Monday night with participation in the Jefferson City Tournament, where the Lady Pintos suffered a 38-15 loss to West Jr.
Several changes have been made at the California Post Office in recent days. The actual changes appear minor, and for the most part will go unnoticed, but should improve security.
The City of California is among those receiving funds from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) from the District 5 Enhancement Funding program.
The California High School varsity and JV boys basketball teams kicked off the 2010-11 season with participation in the Eugene Invitational Monday night, where both the varsity and JV Pintos captured wins against Russellville.
Christmas related activities in California begin this week. Judging of the home decorations will take place Dec. 1-3, with prizes to be awarded.

The California High School Pinto basketball teams will start off the 2010-11 basketball season with the annual Pinto Basketball Scrimmage and Chili Dinner Sunday, Nov. 21, at CHS.
Three California High School varsity volleyball players were named to the Class 2 District 13 All-District volleyball teams.
The Annual Red and Black Scrimmage will be held at Prairie Home School from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, beginning with the dinner.

The California Pintos hosted the Eldon Mustangs for Class 3 District 8 football action at Riley Field Friday night, which was Senior Night for California, where the Pintos came away with a sweet 34-0 victory to advance to Class 3 Regionals at Owensville today (Wednesday).
Members of the California High School girls golf teams, CHS Golf Coach Lance Conner, family and friends gathered at the California Country Club last Thursday to wrap up the 2010 season with the annual golf banquet.
After defeating Cole Camp and Stover last week at the Class 2 District 13 Volleyball Tournament to capture the district championship, the California Lady Pintos advanced to Class 2 Sectionals Saturday at California High School, where they lost to St. Joseph’s Bishop LeBlond 25-20, 21-25 and 15-25 to end the season 19-11-1.

The Russellville High School cross country team competed at the Class 1 District 3 meet at Linn Saturday, where the Lady Indians won the district championship with 31, while the Indians finished sixth with 127. Linn won the boys’ division with 35.
