Prairie Home ends season with district loss to New Franklin

The Prairie Home varsity softball team faced New Franklin Wednesday, Oct. 6, in the first round of the Class 1 District 7 Softball Tournament at Pilot Grove, where the Lady Panthers, seeded seventh, suffered a 15-0 loss to second-seeded New Franklin.

"New Franklin jumped on our mistakes in the first inning and we never recovered," Prairie Home Coach Scott Tooley said.

Taylor Zey recorded the loss for Prairie Home.

Kristynn Watson led Lady Panther hits with a double and a single. Katlynn Watson and Kendra Stinson each contributed a single as well.

Pilot Grove went on to defeat New Franklin 10-0 to secure the district championship.

"It was a disappointing season for us," Tooley said. "I'm proud of our team because every player is better today than they were at the beginning of the season. They worked very hard throughout the season. We lost some close games that will turn into wins as these ladies continue to work hard and improve. I'm proud of each player."

The Lady Panthers end the season 6-12.
