California wraps up regular season with match win at home

The California High School volleyball teams wrapped up the regular season Wednesday, Oct. 20, with matches at home against Cole Camp, where the varsity Lady Pintos captured a match win on Senior Night, where seniors Kelci Dampf, Lesa Langlotz and Erin Cary were recognized along with their parents via a special ceremony prior to the varsity match.

California defeated Cole Camp 25-14 and 26-24. Abby Lueckenotte had seven service points, followed by Dampf with six. Lueckenotte also had seven assists and eight digs, while Dampf had six digs. Sydney Deeken contributed eight kills and three blocks. Kaitlyn Allison had 14 digs, and Holly Wolfrum had five digs and four kills. Langlotz contributed eight assists.

California's JV girls lost to the Lady Bluebirds 13-25 and 22-25. Sam Wise had four service points, followed by Audrey Imhoff with three. Wise also had three digs and Imhoff had five. Taylor Walters contributed nine assists, while Caitlin Meyer had seven digs and three kills. Jessica Gammon also had three kills and Tiffany Lutz had four. Anna Parry chipped in with two blocks.

Previously, the freshman and JV Lady Pintos played at Smithton Oct. 18, where both captured a match win.

The freshman Lady Pintos actually played Smithton's JV team and won 25-21 and 25-20. Sam Phillips led California with 15 service points and 11 assists. Morgan Bestgen contributed seven service points, six kills and three blocks. Meyer had eight service points, while Erin VanDieren had five service points and five assists.

California's JV actually played Smithton's varsity and won 25-18 and 25-10. Meyer led the Lady Pintos with eight service points, four kills and six digs. Parry had five service points, followed by Walters with four and 13 assists. Cassi Thompson contributed four kills, while Lutz had three kills and three blocks. Gammon had five kills and Imhoff chipped in with four service points.

California's varsity girls faced Cole Camp at the Class 2 District 13 Volleyball Tournament Tuesday at Versailles, however, match results were not available at press time. The Lady Pintos are the #2 seed, while Cole Camp is the #3 seed. The championship match was scheduled to follow Tuesday night, however, results were not available at press time.
