Pintos defeat Tigers

The California Pintos were on the road Tuesday, March 29, for a baseball game (varsity only) at Versailles, where California came away with a 9-2 win.

The Pintos led 2-1 after four innings, then added two runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to lead 9-1 going into the seventh inning. The Tigers managed only one run in the seventh, which left California with a 9-2 victory.

Addison Jobe recorded the win with eight strikeouts.

"Pitching was the difference for us," California Coach Dwight Fitzwater said. "Addison was very sharp. Jake Carel also contributed a good outing in relief."

Cory Kramel led California hits with two singles and one RBI, while Tyler Silvey contributed a double and two RBI. Dylan Albertson, Jason Woody and Mitchell Cox each had a single and one RBI.

"We started scoring later than I would have liked, but finally we got things going," Fitzwater said. "Alex Ludwick drove three runs in for us," Fitzwater said.

The Pintos will play at St. Elizabeth Friday beginning with the varsity game at 5 p.m. and the JV game to follow.
