California United Methodist Church Hosting Shoe Drive

California United Methodist Church is hosting a drive to collect new and used shoes for the Shoeman Water Project which was founded in 2008 by George P. Hutchins of Ballwin, Mo. Hutchins, also known as "The Shoeman" collects shoes year round from businesses, organizations, churches and other groups.

The shoes are sold to exporters. The proceeds allow the ministry to purchase materials and equipment for drilling fresh water wells. The shoes also provide protection for feet to people living in underdeveloped/poor countries.

The shoe drive will begin on April 10, and continue through May 15.

The shoes can be dropped off at California United Methodist Church located at 201 South Oak Street. They ask the shoes be put in bags or boxes.
