The California Area Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt was held Saturday, April 16, at Proctor Park, where despite the brisk temperatures (44 degrees) and biting wind, the result was a big turnout of children ready to hunt eggs and meet the Easter Bunny.

A total of 1800 eggs were filled with candy for the event, which were divided and hidden in three separate locations for ages 3 and under, 4-6 and 7-10. Nine special prize eggs were included. First, second and third place prizes were issued to the finders of those special eggs in each age category.

The prizes, provided by Commerce Bank, were as follows: for first place, a $50 savings bond and a bag of candy; second place, a big stuffed bunny; and third place, a big Easter basket.

Prior to the start of the hunt, Event Coordinator Bonnie George apologized to the children and parents for the weather conditions. "Unfortunately, this is standard weather for our Easter Egg Hunt. It's cold and windy like this every year!"
