Salem United Church of Christ, McGirk, held its Annual Ice Cream Social Saturday, Aug. 27. Homemade ice cream, chicken salad sandwiches, cakes were served along with brats, hot dogs, chips, drinks and ham sandwiches made from Burgers' Smokehouse ham. The social also featured a cakewalk, country bazaar and a performance from the California Community Ensemble. John Kuhlman is the president of the consistory for Salem.
"We hold the event the fourth Saturday of each year," Kuhlman said. "We prepare the ice cream the night before and it is a good time for visiting and fellowship. We will taste samples to see if the freezers are working. The day of the event everyone pitches in and come together to get everything done."
