Upcoming Road Work for Mid-Missouri August 31-September 9

The following is a listing of general highway maintenance and construction work in the mid-Missouri area for Wednesday, Aug. 31 through Friday, Sept. 9. Scheduled work affecting traffic will not take place during the Labor Day weekend. Weather conditions may cause postponements in the work schedule. Other construction or

maintenance work may occur on other roadways throughout the area. Many projects will include lane closures and delays can be expected. MoDOT reminds the public to buckle up, slow down, follow posted signing and drive safely through work areas. All Counties

Daylight Hours

Mowing of right of way is underway in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert to slow moving equipment along the roadside.

Benton County in Southwest Region

Daylight Hours

Route 65 from south of Route 52 to just north of the Osage River in Warsaw - Widening highway to four lanes continues. The contractor continues

working on grading, culverts and pipe work, and roadway construction.

Minor traffic delays can be expected on existing Route 65. The project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2012.

Boone County

Daylight Hours/Overnight Hours

Route 63 from just north of Route 163 to Route H - Construction of a new diamond interchange and southbound lanes. Motorists should expect periodic

lane closures.

  • Route H is temporarily closed at U.S. 63. Traffic is being detoured using Route AB and Rangeline Road. This detour will remain in place through late October while a new connection is built at Route H and Hardwick Lane.

Once this stage of the work is completed, traffic will be able to access Route H using Hardwick Lane located near the U.S. 63 roadside park. Route H will remain closed at U.S. 63 until the new interchange opens to traffic.

  • The contractor is hauling material across U.S. 63 at Route H during the evening and overnight hours. This operation will last at least three weeks. The speed limit on U.S. 63 will be reduced to 45 m.p.h. near the intersection during this time. Crews may stop U.S. 63 traffic for brief periods of time. Motorists should follow work zone signing and be alert

for vehicles crossing the highway.

Route 163 (Providence Road) and Route 740 (Stadium Boulevard) in Columbia - Permit work to improve utilities continues through early October.

  • The right turn lane from northbound Route 163 to eastbound Route 740

is closed to traffic. Motorists can detour around the area by using Champions Drive to Mick Deaver Drive to Route 740.

  • Monk Drive is closed to traffic at Route 740. Motorists can use Maryland Avenue or South College Avenue to detour around the area.

  • A temporary entrance for employees only has been constructed for the Veteran's Hospital.

Route A between Route 63 and the city limits of Hartsburg - Partial surface overlay continues through Friday, Sept. 2. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Callaway County

Daylight Hours

Routes 54/63/94 interchange ramps - Roadway maintenance and repair continues through Friday, Sept. 2. The ramps will be open, but narrowed during the work.

Route D between Route 94 and Route AB - Partial surface overlay continues through Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route EE between Route B and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place on Friday, Sept. 2. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Camden County

Daylight Hours

Route 54 between the Grand Glaize Bridge to west of Route KK in Osage Beach - Grading, drainage work, paving and bridges for the new Route 54

Expressway.

  • Forrester Road traffic is using the new Case Road interchange. The remaining entrances to the east are using the new service road on a temporary gravel surface. The contractor will finish grading for this service road and paving in mid-September. Minor traffic delays can be expected during the tie-in portions and paving of this work.

  • Final grading and asphalt work on the Route 54 westbound lanes near Jefferies Road and just west of the Grand Glaize Bridge will begin the week of Aug. 29. Minor traffic delays can be expected as westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane at various times during the work.

  • Traffic is now on a portion of the new Route KK through the

roundabout. The contractor will continue building the remaining portion of new Route KK and the interchange ramps. No traffic delays expected at this time.

  • The contractor is preparing for concrete paving on the new expressway lanes from the Case Road interchange to the Grand Glaize Bridge. This portion of the project is scheduled for completion late 2011.

Route N between Route 54 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay continues through Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route U between Route 54 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 6. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route NN between Route 7 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 6. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route W bridge over Mack's Creek in the town of Mack's Creek - Bridge replacement continues through mid-September. The bridge is closed to traffic during the work. Motorists are asked to find alternate routes around the work area. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Camden and Laclede Counties

Daylight Hours

Route JJ between Route H and Route F - Partial surface overlay will take place Wednesday, Sept. 7 and Thursday, Sept. 8. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Camden and Miller Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 242/Horseshoe Bend Parkway between the Lake of the Ozarks Community Bridge and Route 54 - Grading and paving for a new four-lane highway.

  • The contractor is excavating and placing material on the western end of the project near the Lake of the Ozarks Community Bridge.

  • Minor traffic delays can be expected near Fish Haven Road while contractor connects the new Fish Haven Road to Route 242. The bypass is scheduled to open to traffic on Monday, Aug. 29.

  • Motorists are using the bypass on Route MM near the Community Bridge and the Business Route 54 intersection. Minor delays can be expected as traffic is one lane in each direction while the contractor builds the Route MM and Horseshoe Bend Parkway connection. This project is scheduled for completion in late winter 2011.

Cole County

Daylight Hours

Route 54 at Old Bass Road - Construction of new deceleration lanes in the westbound lanes continues through early September. One westbound lane will be open to traffic through the work area.

Route 54 at Route E - Construction of new acceleration and deceleration lanes in the eastbound lanes continues through mid-September. Eastbound lanes will be narrowed and periodic lane closures may occur.

Route 179 between Route C and Edgewood Drive - Grading, drainage, and bridge paving for a new interchange.

  • Route 179 is closed to traffic through early November while crews remove existing highway and excavate for the new Mission Drive. Motorists can detour around the work using U.S. 50, U.S. 54 and Route C.

The entire project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2012.

Route A between Route AA and the Moniteau County line - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday, Aug. 29 through Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Crawford County

Route E between Route 8 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay continues through Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route Y between Route 8 and the Washington County line - Chip sealing roadway surface to extend pavement life. The operation continues through Thursday, Sept. 1. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Drivers should lower their speeds through the area. Motorists should expect delays. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route BB between Route 8 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Tuesday, Sept. 6 through Thursday, Sept. 8. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area. Route EE between Route F and the Gasconade County line - Partial surface overlay continues through Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Overnight Hours

Interstate 44 between Route H and the Phelps County line - Roadway resurfacing in the westbound lanes continues through early December. One westbound lane will be open to traffic through the work area.

Dent County

Route U between Route 68 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place on Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Gasconade County

Route 19 between Route 28 and the Crawford County line

Route EE between Route 28 and the Crawford County line - Partial surface overlay continues through Friday, Sept. 2. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route B between Route 28 and the Phelps County line - Partial surface overlay will take place Thursday, Sept. 8 and Friday, Sept. 9. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route Y between Route 28 and Route A - Partial surface overlay will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 6. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route V between Route 19 and Route T - Partial surface overlay will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 7. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Howard County

Daylight Hours

Route 240 between Main Street in Fayette and Route 124 - Bridge replacements over Bonne Femme Creek and Bonne Femme Creek Overflow continue. One lane will be open and temporary traffic signals will guide motorists through the work zone. The lane width of the roadway will be 10'6" in the work zone. Route 124 will be closed at the intersection of

Route 240 starting Sunday, Aug. 28 and will remain closed for the duration of the project. Motorists who wish to access Route 240 from Route 124 will need to find alternate routes around the area. The project will continue through early November.

Route H between Route 124 and the Randolph County line - Partial surface overlay will take place Thursday, Sept. 8 and Friday, Sept. 9. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route U between Route 3 and Route H - Partial surface overlay will take place Tuesday, Sept. 6 and Wednesday, Sept. 7. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route DD between Route 5 and Route P - Partial surface overlay continues through Wednesday, Aug. 31. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route W bridge over Bonne Femme Creek, approximately one-half mile west of Route EE - Bridge maintenance and repair continues through mid-October. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Laclede County

Daylight Hours

Route FF between Route 133 and Route T - Partial surface overlay will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 31. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Maries County

Route DD between Route 133 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Wednesday, Sept. 7 and Thursday, Sept. 8. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route BB between Route 133 and the Miller County line - Partial surface overlay will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 6. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Miller and Maries Counties

Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Drivers should lower their speeds through the area. Motorists should expect delays. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route W between Route 5 and Route E - Partial surface overlay will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 31. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route CC bridge over south Burris Creek, just south of Waking Acres Road - Bridge maintenance will take place Wednesday, Aug. 31 and Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Moniteau and Morgan Counties

Route 5, from Tipton city limits to Route 52 in Morgan County - Roadway resurfacing continues through early fall of 2011. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Osage County

Route 89 between Route 50 and Route 100 - Partial surface overlay will take place on Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 100 between Route 50 and the Gasconade County line - Partial surface overlay will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 31. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route D between Route 89 and the Gasconade County line - Partial surface overlay continues through Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route FF between Route 89 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Wednesday, Aug. 31 and Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Sestak Slab low-water crossing on County Road 521, approximately three miles from Route T - The low-water crossing opened to traffic on Thursday, Aug. 25.

Pettis, Morgan and Moniteau Counties

Daylight Hours

Route 50 from east of Sedalia city limits to Tipton city limits - Roadway resurfacing continues in the driving lanes and shoulders through early fall of 2011. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Phelps County

Daylight Hours

Interstate 44 at mile marker 176 - Partial surface overlay in the eastbound lanes continues through Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane in eastbound lane will remain open through the work area.

Route B bridge over Clear Creek, approximately two miles south of the Gasconade County line - Bridge maintenance and repair continues through Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Interstate 44 ramps at mile marker 184 in Rolla - The eastbound on-ramp to I-44 is closed as part of a project to construct roundabouts at the interchange. The ramp will be closed through Sept. 5. Motorists can access eastbound I-44 by using the I-44 Business Loop (Kingshighway) to U.S. 63

north (Bishop Ave.) to the interchanges at mile markers 185 or 186. Motorists should expect additional ramp closures at the 184 mile marker interchange as construction continues. Closures are scheduled every two weeks, and construction is staged so only one ramp will be closed at a time. Weather permitting, the on-ramp to westbound I-44 is scheduled to

close on Sept. 5. The off-ramp from westbound I-44 is scheduled to close on Sept. 19, and the off-ramp from eastbound I-44 is scheduled to close Oct. 3. Work on the roundabouts should be complete by late 2011.

Pulaski County

Route 28 between Route MM and the Dixon city limits - Roadway maintenance and repair will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 31. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route Z between Tear Drop Road and Totem Drive - Partial surface overlay in the eastbound lanes will take place on Thursday, Sept. 1. One eastbound lane will be open to traffic through the work area.

Route DD between Route 17 and end of state maintenance - Roadway maintenance and repair will take place on Thursday, Sept. 1. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Washington County

Daylight Hours
