Freshman Lady Pintos lose close contest to Lady Jays

California's freshman girls basketball team opened the season with participation in the Lady Jays Freshman Tournament Nov. 28-Dec. 1, where the Lady Pintos came away with third place.

"We had an exciting start to the season with winning third place at the JC Tournament," California Coach Krista Davis said.

The Lady Pintos faced Jefferson City in the first round of the tourney Nov. 28, where California lost a close contest, 28-26.

"The girls kept pace with the Jays in the first half, but fell back 13-20 in the third quarter with Morgan Henley making the only basket, a 3-point shot," Davis said. "We came back strong in the fourth quarter to score 13 points."
