Annual Dinner Plans Discussed at California Area Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting

Shelly Hampton, Chamber Board president, called to order the California Area Chamber of Commerce Board meeting held Thursday, Dec. 8.
After review, Marla Wright made a motion to accept the minutes from the November meeting. Chris Long seconded and the motion carried.
During the treasurer's report, Melissa Bonecutter, treasurer, reported the Chamber has paid for the spring chamber scholarships.
Brad Baer moved and Becky Lawson seconded to accept the treasurer's report as presented and the motion carried.
Executive Secretary Diane Eulinger included a written secretary's report which was approved as presented. In it, Eulinger shared a thank you letter received by the Chamber from Ernie Timbrook for its support of the California Balloon Invitational. Eulinger also reported about an e-mail she received from the Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland, Inc., asking for candidates for board and committee positions. Anyone interested in serving should see Eulinger for a copy of the e-mail.
In November, Eulinger notarized two documents and received five names of newcomers whom she mailed personal letters with Discover California brochures. New Life Christian Center is a new member of Chamber. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for Edge Graphics Nov. 1.
During old business, Hampton shared she is writing a letter to the California Democrat to encourage local businesses to become a part of the Chamber. Hampton will also send a letter of thanks to Dr. Don Vanderfeltz for all of his work in having the Veterans' Mural painted and dedicated.
During new business, Bonecutter presented a proposed budget for 2012 for the Board to look over. This proposed budget will be presented and voted on at the annual dinner to be held Jan. 28, 2012, at the California Nutrition Center.
Two bids were discussed for catering the meal at the annual dinner. On a motion by Melanie McDonald which was seconded by Hope Hoellering and carried, the bid award went to the California Eagles Lady Auxillary.
Dolores Burger will be contacting the Chamber board with names of local businesses so they can be contacted to donate items for the auction.
