The departments of the City of California are busy most of the year. Even the occasional day with nothing really pressing often involves repair and maintenance of equipment. When a department finds itself shorthanded, employees from the other departments pitch in to get the job done.
The Park Department is not exception. If the park employees aren't actually mowing, trimming, cutting and planting trees, the continual need for maintenance work on the two larger parks, the swimming pool grounds or the cemeteries, they are busy repairing equipment and facilities.
