Presentations for California School Board
Wednesday, December 28, 2011
Two students gave presentations to the California R-I School Board at its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, Dec. 21, and one staff member reported on a school related trip.
In addition, four students were awarded diplomas under the Missouri Option program.
Nathan Thibon presented an essay which took first place in the patriotic essay contest held annually by the VFW. Thibon's essay was selected for first place by VFW Post 35 and has been entered in the state contest.
The essay spoke of the pride many veterans have in the country and the flag. Thibon related an incident where a wheelchair bound veteran rose and came to attention as a Color Guard passed by, mentioning American servicemen and women protect and defend America and other countries.
