An occasional snow day provides a short break from school for both students and teachers. But those are not really free days. The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requires a minimum number of school days and hours.
In general, a snow day off school is not a free day, it is just a day of class delayed. At last that is the case in a normal year with, at most a day or two of snow days.
