California Tournament Pushed Back Due to Weather

The Annual California Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament was set to start off on Monday, Jan. 10, but then the winter weather set in.

Due to the large amount of snow, the Monday and Tuesday games were cancelled and rescheduled to Wednesday.

In order to get the tournament back on track, the middle school gym was put to use on both Wednesday and Thursday nights. Both gyms hosted four games each night.

"With the help of our middle school and the supervision of Matt Abernathy, we were able to get back on track" said Amy Ramsdell, CHS Athletic Director.

Friday and Saturday's schedule remained the same as originally scheduled, which was a relief after all the chaos that took place earlier in the week.

The winter weather affected all aspects of the tournament. With two gyms in use, that meant two concession stands.

In charge of the concession stands was Tiffany Brown, Drama Club sponsor.

"All we had to do was enlist the help of more students and more supervisors. Once we got that covered, the concessions were on track with the rest of the tournament," said Brown.
