Filing for Tuesday, April 5, municipal election closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18.
The election includes school boards, city offices, fire districts, ambulance districts and water districts as well as local and county issues.
For the City of California, as of press time, three candidates have entered the race for Mayor. They are Norris Gerhart, Charles Roll and Kathi Swearingen.
Two candidates have entered their names for City of California Board of Aldermen. Those who have filed are Ward I-Tony Wineland and Ward II-Cameron Freiner. No one had filed for Ward III alderman at press time.
For the three seats open on the California R-I School Board, seven candidates have entered their names for consideration by the voters.
Those who have filed as of press time are Scott Sapp, Mike Lutz, Craig Ash, Nathan Dalbey, Darryl Elliott, Steven Burger and Keith Jones.
Any additional filings will be reported in the next issue.
The positions up for election are currently held by Lutz, Ash and Burger.
