Lohman Soldier Promoted to Private First Class in Missouri Guard

Seth Hampson is more than a high school senior - he is a Missouri National Guard Soldier.

By serving, Hampson said he is continuing a family tradition.

"My father and grandfather were in the military and I wanted to be a part of something big," said Hampson.

At a recent monthly drill, Hampson, Lohman, was promoted to the rank of private first class. On the same drill weekend, he prepared for physical training and participated in a weapons refresher session.

Hampson is a senior at Helias High School in Jefferson City. He joined the Missouri National Guard in March 2009 and currently serving with Company F of the Recruit Sustainment Program.

Between his junior and senior years, Hampson attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood. In August 2011, he will attend advanced individual training at Fort Leonard Wood. After, Hampson will be join the 1140th Military Police Company in Fulton.

Hampson will begin classes at Linn State Technical College, Linn, after advanced individual training. He will be using the GI Bill to pay for his college degree.

Hampson is supported in military career by his parents, Kim Hampson, St. Martins, and Donnie Hampson, Russellville, and his brother Kaden Hampson.
