Stringtown-Corinth 4-H Club News

The Stringtown-Corinth 4-H Club met Thursday, Jan. 6 at the St. John's Lutheran Church hall at Stringtown. The meeting was called to order by president Clayton Thompson and the pledges were given. A project meeting report was given by the foods group. Club leader Pam Thompson announced the club had 73 members this year.

New Business: Ham pick up will be Saturday, Jan. 8 at Burgers' Smokehouse in California from 7- 8 a.m. Several families volunteered for the upcoming Adopt-A-Highway pick-up time. The Stringtown Corinth 4-H club is responsible for the stretch of Route C in the Route D - Stringtown area. There is a Cole County fair board meeting scheduled for Jan. 27 at the Extension office to set rules for this year's fair. The club voted to get quotes for a new weather-resistant club banner. Ronda Anderson, the club representative to the county 4-H council asked for club members to considering helping plan county-wide 4-H events such as Recognition Night and Achievement Night. A thank you was read from the Central Missouri Food Bank for the club donation to the "Buddy Backpack" program. 4-H Day with the Lady Basketball Tigers will be Saturday, Feb. 5 - game tickets are $1 and t-shirts are $6. Bridgett Brennecke gave a demonstration on rug weaving on her loom. A reminder was given that a project demonstration is required before a member is allowed to exhibit at the county fair.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church hall. A local taxidermist will be invited to make a presentation.
