"I read a piece in the California Democrat written by the Rev. Collette Jones about the Moniteau Christian Ministries Center," Schroeder said. "I took it to the Ladies of Sodality and they said it was not time to do a kickoff event yet. Later Rev. Jones said it was time and we could do a kickoff campaign fundraiser. The ladies agreed and so we decided to do it."

The Rev. Linda Pagel, pastor of California United Methodist Church and president of the Moniteau Christian Ministries Board, said the facility they are raising funds for will house the Food Pantry, Food Bank distribution, the Buddy Pack program and Project Share which distributes clothing and household goods to those in need for a small price.

"We are so excited to see the support of the community," Rev. Pagel said. "This effort was started by churches in the community and includes everyone in the community, so their support means a lot to us."
