Several issues tabled at Monday night City Council meeting

At the regular monthly meeting of the City of California Board of Aldermen on Monday, June 6, several items were tabled to be taken up at future meetings.

Items tabled pending the presence of a full Council (two Alderman were unable to be present) included topics related to telephone and Internet services contracts.

An item tabled due to the need for additional information was an ordinance closing streets for a parade on Independence Day. Since a special meeting will have to be held later in the month to address annexation, a more specific street closing ordinance will be taken up at that meeting.

The topic of "budget billing" for the city utilities was discussed briefly, but it was determined the two month delay in the billing cycle should be addressed first. It was explained that the May utility usage is not billed until July, meaning that the city is two months behind on fund collection.
