Moniteau County Relay for Life starts at 6 p.m. Friday at fairgrounds

The American Cancer Society 11th Annual Relay for Life of Moniteau County will get underway at 6 p.m. Friday at the Moniteau County Fairgrounds, California.

The ACS Relay for Life gives communities the opportunity to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember those who have lost the battle, and help those who are fighting the disease.

"Relay For Life is a family-oriented event and this year we have more carnival-type games for children, including a special area called the Kids Zone," Julie Gates, Entertainment Co-Chair, said. "There will be on-stage entertainment throughout the evening with local talent and the Queen of Relay Pageant."

From the start of the 24-hour event, each of the participating relay teams will host fundraising activities at their campsite, including games, prizes, food and beverages, with all of the proceeds going toward their team goal and the Relay for Life of Moniteau County overall goal.

While each team will be represented at all times with at least one member walking or running (because cancer never sleeps) on the track, there will also be numerous fun activities for relay goers to take part in.
