Prairie Home High School FCCLA members compete at Regional Star event; three advance to State

Five Prairie Home School FCCLA (Family Career & Community Leaders of America) members competed at the FCCLA Regional Star (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events Jan. 27 at Pilot Grove, where they completed projects that were presented before a panel of judges.


Prairie Home School FCCLA Vice President and Region 13 Treasurer Josey Stevens, above with PHS FCCLA Sponsor Lindsey Oram, attended the Regional FCCLA Officer Elections at Tuscumbia Feb. 17 where, after delivering a speech about FCCLA and answering several interview questions, Stevens was elected the Region 13 State Officer. He will run for State FCCLA President at the State Conference at Columbia March 27-29.

Melanie Bryant and Sarah Gipson competed in the Promote and Publicize category, in which they promoted FCCLA to the community and to recruited FCCLA members, and received a Silver Rating at Regional competetion.

Dani Smith and Krista Small competed in the Community Service-Display category, in which they organized and conducted a community service project. Smith and Small received a Gold Rating and will advance to State competition.

Josey Stevens completed a Teach and Train project in which he researched the education profession and presented a lesson to a class of students. Stevens received a Gold Rating and qualified for State competition.
