Moniteau County Health Center Board of Trustees meet

The Moniteau County Health Center Board of Trustees meeting was held on Monday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m., in the health center meeting room. Board members present for the meeting were Don Wyss, Norma Blankenship, Eileen Crawford and Administrator Andrea Kincaid.

Blankenship called the meeting to order. Minutes from the January 2011 board meeting were reviewed. Crawford made the motion to accept the minutes from last month and it was seconded by Wyss. The motion was accepted.

Receipts and disbursements were reviewed for January 2011 with no concerns voiced by members. The report, as written, was accepted.

In the Administrator's report, an update was provided on the onsite sewer program. Since the adoption of the sewer ordinance that went in to effect July 1, Terry Wenkel, health center employee, has received four applications and issued three permits. One application was not approved.

The health center plans to advertise requesting bids on lawn care for the 2011 season. Bid proposals will be accepted in writing until Friday, March 18. The Administrator reported on some repairs needing to be done to the furnace unit due to damage from the recent snow storm.

The Administrator reported on plans to participate in the Region F Public Health Exercise at Cooper County on Thursday, April 28. All Region F health departments are planning on participating. Prior to the event, on day one, each county will test communications, including mock ordering from the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS). On day two, select health center staff will be going to Cooper County to practice setting up a SNS command post which includes two tents for prophylaxis of affected people and a communications trailer using Region F Public Health RHSOC (Regional Homeland Security Oversight Committee) assets.

The health center is receiving increasing amounts of confirmed cases of influenza in the county. The public is encouraged to get vaccinated this flu season. The health center continues to administer vaccine daily, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-5 p.m., no appointment necessary. Medicare Part B and Medicaid can be billed, or a $10 donation is appreciated.

Board member visiting the health center during the month of January was Dr. James Canter. The next scheduled meeting will be held on Monday, March 21 at 5:30 p.m., in the health center meeting room at 401 S. Francis St. California, MO. The annual Health Center Board/Employee in-service will be held following the meeting.
