California FFA Holds Local Speech Contest

The California FFA Chapter held a local speech contest on Monday, Mar. 7.

This speech contest was held for the chapter to see who would go on and participate in Area FFA Speech Contest in Russellville.

"This is a good way to get to know new people from the surrounding area," says FFA member Tyler Silvey.

Students placed as follows: Division I-Libby Martin, first place. Division II-Tyler Silvey, first place; Weston Hetland, second place. Advanced Public Speaking- William Inglish, first place. Extemporaneous Public Speaking-Phillip Longan, first place. FFA Creed- John Wolken, first place.

"Giving speeches is a good opportunity for students to gain leadership skills. They can use this opportunity to have good communication skills to help them in the future," said chapter advisor Lee Longan.
