Guest speaker at Jamestown Crime watch meeting

Sgt. Jason P. Clark of the Rural Crimes Investigative Unit was the guest speaker at the Moniteau County Crime Watch meeting Tuesday, March 8, at the Jamestown Community Building.

Clark informed the nearly 20 people in the audience of the problem of rural crimes. He provided anecdotal stories of crime incidents as well as facts and figures.

According to Clark, different areas of the state suffer from different types of rural crime. For example, the south central part of the state is plagued with a lot of cattle theft, while cattle fraud is a big problem in north Missouri. A major problem in the southeast region of the state involves metal theft, with the thieves actually stealing trailers to cut up and sell the metal. In the southwest region, the major problem is cattle theft and equipment theft.
