The California High School Pinto golf teams opened the season with a match at home Monday night, where California's varsity boys captured their first match win with 183. Versailles followed with 208, while Russellville finished third with 237, and New Bloomfield fourth with 244.

"It wasn't good, but we won," California Coach Doug Miller said. "It's nice to win our first match of the season though. Hopefully we'll continue to improve."
