Prairie Home School students competed at the District Math Contest March 5 at Warrensburg, where, as a team, they placed second among the eight Division 1 Schools, while two PHS students, Akanksha Ashwini and Damon Wendt, were individual winners, as the top senior student in Division 1 and the top junior student, respectively. Prairie Home School students recently competed at the CCAA Music Contest where many received top ratings. Receiving a I rating were, front row, from left, Tara Vonder Haar for her french horn solo and Kody Utterback for his tenor saxophone solo; receiving a I- rating were Akanksha Ashwini for her girls vocal solo; Jeremiah Wallingford, alto saxophone solo; and Rayce Kendrick, baritone saxophone solo; back row, Ally Small, bass clarinet solo; Brooke Emmerich, french horn solo; Josie Flood, alto saxophone solo; Danielle Paulson, Makayla Zey and Nicholas Stock, junior high clarinet trio; and Alex Porter, snare drum solo. Katlynn Watson, who earned a I- rating for her baritone solo, was not present for the picture.
