Dr. Lindell Harrison new director for Moniteau County SB40 Board

The new Executive Director of the Moniteau County SB40 Board is Dr. Lindell Harrison, who was introduced to the Moniteau County SB40 Board at the Jan. 24 meeting. He began on a half-time basis on Feb. 1. Until Aug. 1, when he begins on a full-time basis, he will work alternate weeks of two days and three days. He will also be available in the evenings.
Having earned a B.S. in Social Science and Psychology from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State), Harrison taught sociology, anthropology, history and psychology before earning a M.A. in Guidance and Counseling and becoming a school counselor. Several years later, he earned a Ed.D. degree from University of Missouri - Columbia then went into school administration where he remained for 18 years.
Retiring as Holden School Superintendent about five years ago, Harrison took a position with Central Missouri University, Warrensburg, where he has remained.
He has been on the Johnson County SB40 Board for the last nine years and is currently board president.
"I've worked to provvvide services for people with developmental disabilities in Johnson County for the last nine years," Harrison said. "I hope to do the same here."
He developed an interest in working in the field of adult development disabilities because of family. He was drawn to Moniteau County because he wanted to get back into the area of his residence which is between Otterville and Syracuse.
