UCM Math Relays held March 5 in Warrensburg.

The UCM Math Relays were held March 5 in Warrensburg. Thirty-five schools were organized into four divisions. Prairie Home was one of eight schools competing in Division 1. Three freshmen, two sophomores, four juniors and one senior represented Prairie Home at this competition. The following students received awards:
Akanksha Ashwini - first place in 12th grade Algebra, 12th grade geometry and in 12th grade team; second place in trigonometry and senior math topics.
Damon Wendt - first place in calculators and computers, graphing calculators and 11th grade team; second place in 11th grade algebra; and top 10 in 11th grade geometry.
Josey Stevens - first place in probability and in 11th grade team; fourth place in 11th grade geometry.
Dennis Imhoff - first place in trigonometry; third place in mathematics proofs team; fourth place in 11th grade algebra; fifth place in senior math topics and 11th grade geometry.
Mark Lesniak - third place in mathematics proofs team.
Melanie Bryan - top 10 in 10th grade algebra, top 10 in 10th grade geometry and fifth place in number and set theory.
Sarah Gipson - top 10 in 10th grade geometry; fifth place in 10th grade algebra.
Jonathan Brandes - second place in ninth grade algebra.
Michael Porter - top 10 in number and set theory; first place in ninth grade algebra.
There were two individual award winners. Damon Wendt was the top junior student in Division I and Akanksha Ashwini was the top senior student. As a team, Prairie Home received second place among the Division I schools.
Accompanying the students were Kohlie Stock, Roberta Pate and Betty Kemna.
The academic team took second place in the CCAA tournament with a 3-1 record. Ashwini finished second and Stevens finished third.
