City of California Board of Alderman Meet

The regular meeting of the City of California Board of Aldermen Monday, May 2, stalled on several important items due to a lack of a majority of votes. Present were Ward III Alderwoman Carol Rackers, Ward II Alderman Charlie Roll, Ward II Alderman Cameron Freiner and Ward III Alderman Lanny Ash. Both Ward I Aldermen, Tony Wineland and Joe Coffelt, were absent.

Since four votes of the six member Council are necessary to approve any business before the governing body, any vote of the Council members present at the meeting had to be unanimous.

Although all four Council members approved retention of City Clerk Brian Scrivner, City Attorney Ann Perry and all of the current department supervisors, selection of the Council President Pro Tem was not possible since four votes were not forthcoming for approval of the motion.
