California R-I begins windup of school year

The California R-I School Board met and worked on planning for the end of this school year, the upcoming summer school and the beginning of the next school year.

With Baccalaureate set for Wednesday, May 18, at First Baptist Church and high school graduation Sunday, May 22, the Board set a date for working on the next year's budget.

The majority of the final checks for the 2010-11 school year will be issued early in June making the financial information for the current school year close to complete. The Board therefore approved June 13 for the budget planning meeting, just two days before the next regular monthly Board meeting.

Many items on the consent agenda, such as selecting members to serve on various committees and approval of teacher contracts, were in preparation for the 2011-12 school year. In preparation for the summer school session to begin in June, teacher contracts were approved.

According to the high school report, the End of Curse Exams were completed the first week in May. "All of the tests were completed electronically," Principal Dwight Sanders said. "This process really pushed the limits of our available technology but we made it work with limited problems."

The exams will be a part of the overall grades for the second semester, counted as a 100 point test.
