California High School Band Performs at Worlds of Fun

On May 13, the CHS Band took a trip to Worlds of Fun to participate in the annual Festival of Music.

Festival of Music is a contest that also serves as a learning experience for band members and instructors. The band played at 2 p.m. performing two songs, Medieval Legend and Salvation is Created, for a panel of judges from around the United States including Texas.

Director of Bands, Matt Rayl said it was a good experience for the kids. "They learned a lot and got to have a lot of fun along with the playing experience," he said.

Before and after their performance, band members enjoyed the park riding the rides, playing the games and shopping in the stores.

It was junior Patricia Garcia's first trip to Worlds of Fun. "I really enjoyed playing and getting to hang out with my friends," said Garcia.

Looking back at the experience, freshman Simon Schroeter said, "We tried our best. With the weather being so cold and wet, it was really hard to tune, but overall I enjoyed my trip to Worlds of Fun."
