County Hazard Mitigation Plan to be presented to public

A public presentation on the update of the Moniteau County Hazard Mitigation Plan will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. at California City Hall.
The public is invited to attend, ask questions and comment on the plan. This is a final chance for public input on this plan before it is submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for approval.
The Moniteau County Hazard Mitigation Plan allows participating jurisdictions to apply for FEMA mitigation grants to lessen the impact of natural hazards.
Participating jurisdictions in the 2011 update are: Moniteau County, California, Clarksburg, Jamestown, Lupus, Tipton, Clarksburg C-2 School District, High Point R-III School District, Jamestown C-1 School District, Moniteau Co. R-I School District, Moniteau Co. R-V School District and Tipton R-VI School District.
This update represents the results of meetings and discussions held over a seven month period with representatives of these jurisdictions, members of the fire protection and levee districts, private businesses and community volunteers of Moniteau County.
The Mid-MO Regional Planning Commission (Mid-MO RPC) led the update effort in conjunction with the Moniteau County Commission and Emergency Management Agency. The draft of the update can be viewed online at the Mid-MO RPC website: (HYPERLINK http://www.mmrpc.org/reports-library.
