In conjunction with this year's "Christmas California Style" the California Area Chamber of Commerce will host an outdoor lighting/decorating contest for citizens living within the City of California and surrounding areas.
Residents are encouraged to "deck their yards' and display their Christmas spirit this holiday season through lighting and/or other means of lawn and grounds decorations. No registration is necessary for citizens living within the city limits. Event judges will drive through California viewing displays Nov. 30 through Dec. 2. Residents wishing to participate who live outside the city limits or in nearby towns are asked to notify the chamber executive secretary, Diane Eulinger, at 573-796-3040 to ensure a visit from the judges.
Judging will be based soley on curb appeal. Winners will receive award certificates and Chamber Buck gift certificates in the amounts of $50, $25 and $15 respectively for first, second and third places. The Chamber will place signs in the yards to designate the winners that will remain throughout the holiday season. House Decoration Committee members are Robin Ratcliff of the The Flower Shop, Melissa Bonecutter of Bonecutter Body Shop and independent chamber member Marla Wright.
