Co-Mo Electric reports Broadband status at MRED meeting

At the Moniteau County Regional Economic Development Council (MRED) Board of Directors meeting Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Burgher Haus, Ken Johnson, Co-Mo Electric, reported the pilot Broadband Program is going fast.

The installation process involves putting up an overhead "strand" and then "lashing" the fiber optic line to the strand. The pilot program only involves 100 miles and they are "making great progress." It is hoped that the installation process will be completed by the end of the year. The company hopes to begin opening up the system in the second or third week of December.

Johnson said it is hoped to have most of it in operation by the first of the year, weather permitting.
