Prairie Home School observed Veteran's Day Friday, Nov. 11, via a "Veteran's Day Celebration" that included an assembly for students in grades 5-12.

The guest speaker was Holocaust survivor Hedy Epstein, who presented grave statistics regarding the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"Since the war in Afghanistan started in Oct. 2001, a total of 1,711 soldiers died, 47 from Missouri," Epstein said. "Since the war in Iraq started in March 2003, 4,483 soldiers died, 89 from Missouri."
