Off-season Body Conditioning

With football season nearing an end it is about time to re-lace those sneakers and get on the courts. Several players of the California High School men's and women's basketball teams are hard at work in a tough off-season conditioning program to prepare for the upcoming season.

First-year boys varsity basketball coach, Blair Scanlon, says he is excited that the off-season conditioning is going as well as it is. Scanlon says that with many players being involved in fall sports, it has given him and his players the opportunity to work on individal skills. The first-year coach also said he is happy about the fact that he has eight or nine seniors returning, giving the Pintos a lot of experience on their roster. There are two weeks of off-season conditioning and practice left before the season tips off and they practice Monday through Thursday after school. During the season there are separate varsity and JV/9th practices. He added that it may be a little rough transitioning from football, but believes that the team will hit its stride by mid-January.

With loads of experience, hard work in the off-season, tons of potential, and a new scheme and coaching staff in place, this is bound to be an exciting basketball season.
