Special council meeting called concerning well

The discovery that California's Well Number Eight had quit prompted the call for a special meeting of the City of California Board of Aldermen, Thursday, Oct. 20.

The well is believed to have quit working either Monday night or Tuesday morning. According to Electric Supervisor Rick Graham, the electric motor showed a "dead short" all three phases. It is thought lightning may have caused the damage, but that can't be determined for certain until the motor and pump are pulled and examined.
