Bids have been accepted for construction of a new Moniteau County jail facility on the north side of the Courthouse Square at the corner of North Street and North East Street (Highway 87).
According to Presiding County Commissioner Kenny Kunze, the cost of construction of the new jail appears to be within an acceptable range of the funds available. Some funds will likely have to be borrowed next year.
The construction bid was advertised in seven different packages to ease the availability of bidding by local contractors.
The first bid package, awarded to A and D Construction, includes Demolition, Erosion Control, Site Clearing and Utility Relocation. The second bid package, awarded to J.C Industries, is for General contractor. The third bid package, awarded to WDSI, Inc., includes Detentions Doors, Detention Hardware and Detention Equipment. The fourth package, awarded to Central Missouri Plumbing, is for plumbing. The fifth package, awarded to All Safe Fire protection, is for Fire Sprinklers. The sixth package, awarded to Bemboom Heating and Cooling, is for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC). The seventh package, awarded to Richard Howerton Electric, includes Electric, Security Electric, Fire Alarm and Generator System.
The construction manager, Septagon, which will oversee the work, has reported the general contractor has already contacted several local subcontractors who will be involved in the work.
