Upcoming Road Work for Mid-Missouri September 14 issue

Cole County

• U.S. 54 at Old Bass Road - Construction of new deceleration lanes in the westbound lanes continues through mid-September. One westbound lane will be open to traffic through the work area.

• U.S. 54 at Route E - Construction of new acceleration and deceleration lanes in the eastbound lanes continues through mid-September. The eastbound lanes will be narrowed and periodic lane closures may occur.

• Missouri 179 between Route C and Edgewood Drive - Grading, drainage and bridge paving for a new interchange.

  • Highway 179 is closed to all traffic through early November while crews remove existing highway and excavate for the new Mission Drive. Motorists can detour around the work using U.S. 50, U.S. 54 and Route C. The entire project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2012.

• Route J between Route 50/63 and the end of state maintenance; Route M between Route 50/63 and Route B, Route Y between Route M and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place in various locations Monday through Thursday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Route W between Route B and the end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Wednesday and Thursday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Route HH between Route C and the Moniteau County line - Culvert pipe replacement will take place Friday, Sept. 16, through Friday, Sept. 23. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Boone County

• U.S. 63 from just north of Missouri 163 to Route H - Construction of a new diamond interchange and southbound lanes. Motorists should expect periodic lane closures.

  • Route H is temporarily closed at 63. Traffic will be detoured using Route AB and Rangeline Road. This detour will remain in place through late October while a new connection is built at Route H and Hardwick Lane. Once this stage is completed, traffic will be able to access Route H using Hardwick Lane located near the 63 roadside park. Route H will remain closed at 63 until the new interchange opens to traffic.

  • The contractor is hauling material across 63 at Route H during the evening and overnight hours. This operation will last through mid-September. The speed limit on 63 will be reduced to 45 mph near the intersection during this time. Crews may stop 63 traffic for brief periods of time. Motorists should follow work zone signing and be alert for vehicles crossing the highway.

• Route B at Brown Station Road - Intersection improvements on Route B and Brown Station Road will begin Monday.

*Work will take place at the intersection located northeast of U.S. 63, where crews will make pavement repairs in the intersection and widen Brown Station Road to accommodate right-turn lanes onto Route B.

*Brown Station Road on the east side of Route B will be closed to traffic through the end of September, and motorists can use Route B and Route HH to detour around the closure. Once the east side is finished, Brown Station Road will close on the west side of Route B for approximately two weeks.

*Motorists can detour around the west side closure on Route B and Waco Road. Route B will remain open during the work, but there may be times during the evening and overnight hours when traffic on that route will be flagged through the intersection. Work is scheduled to be complete by Oct. 1.

• Southbound U.S. 63 bridge over Gans Creek, just east of Gans Creek Road - Bridge deck repair will take place Thursday. One southbound lane will be open to traffic through the work area.

• Providence Road and Stadium Boulevard in Columbia - Permit work to improve utilities continues through early October.

  • Monk Drive is closed to traffic at Missouri 740. Motorists can use Maryland Avenue or South College Avenue to detour around the area.

  • A temporary employee entrance has been constructed for the Veteran's Hospital.

• Route E Bridge over Perche Creek, just east of Driskel Road - Bridge deck repair will take place Monday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Route E Bridge over Rocky Fork Creek, just west of Wilcox Road - Bridge maintenance and repair will take place Tuesday and Wednesday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Route M between U.S. 63 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday through Friday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Route PP between I-70 and end of state maintenance - Culvert pipe replacement will take place Wednesday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Callaway County

• Interchange ramps at U.S. 54/63 and Missouri 94 - Roadway maintenance and repair will take place Monday through Thursday. The ramps will be open, but narrowed during the work.

• Route O between U.S. 54 and County Road 419 - Roadway maintenance will take place Monday and Tuesday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Route CC, approximately two miles south of Route O - Partial surface overlay will take place Wednesday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Route TT between U.S. 54 and County Road 484 - Partial surface overlay will take place Wednesday through Friday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Camden County

• U.S. 54 between the Grand Glaize bridge to west of Route KK in Osage Beach - Grading, drainage work, paving and bridges for the new 54 Expressway.

  • Forrester Road traffic is using the new Case Road interchange. The remaining entrances to the east are using the new service road on a temporary gravel surface. The contractor will finish grading for this service road and paving in mid-September. Minor traffic delays can be expected during the tie-in portions and paving of this work.

  • Grading work on the 54 westbound lanes near Jefferies Road and just west of the Grand Glaize bridge is complete.

  • Traffic is now on a portion of the new Route KK through the roundabout. The contractor will continue building the remaining portion of new Route KK and the interchange ramps. No traffic delays expected at this time.

  • Concrete and asphalt paving on the new expressway lanes from the Case Road interchange to the Grand Glaize bridge will begin this week. No traffic delays expected.

  • Paving will begin on the new expressway from the Case Road interchange to the western end of the project near Key Largo Road. No traffic delays expected.

This portion of the project is scheduled for completion late this year.

Camden and Miller counties

• Missouri 242/Horseshoe Bend Parkway between the Lake of the Ozarks community bridge and U.S. 54 - Grading and paving for a new four-lane highway.

  • The contractor is excavating and placing material on the western end of the project near the Lake of the Ozarks community bridge.

  • Motorists are using the bypass on Route MM near the community bridge and the Business 54 intersection. Minor delays can be expected as traffic is one lane in each direction while the contractor builds the Route MM and Horseshoe Bend Parkway connection.

This project is scheduled for completion in late winter.

Miller County

• Route A between Route C and Route TT - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday through Thursday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Route P between Missouri 87 and end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday and Tuesday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Miller and Maries counties

• Missouri 42 between U.S. 54 in Miller County and U.S. 63 in Maries County - Roadway resurfacing will resume in the fall.

Moniteau County

• Route W bridge over Straight Fork Creek, just north of Maupin Road - Bridge maintenance will take place Monday through Thursday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Route Y between Missouri 179 and the end of state maintenance - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday through Wednesday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Moniteau and Morgan counties

• Missouri 5 from Tipton city limits to Missouri 52 in Morgan County - Roadway resurfacing continues through early fall. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Morgan County

• Route E between Route C and the Moniteau County line - Partial surface overlay will take place Tuesday through Thursday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Route Z between Route D and the Moniteau County line - Partial surface overlay will take place Wednesday and Thursday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Route JJ between Missouri 135 and Route D - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Osage County

• U.S. 63 between U.S. 50 and Route P - Partial surface overlay will take place Monday through Thursday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Pettis, Morgan and Moniteau counties

• U.S. 50 from east of Sedalia city limits to Tipton city limits - Roadway resurfacing is complete. The contractor will begin striping this week through early fall. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.
