California Cross Country runners compete at Fulton Meet

The California Cross Country team participated in a meet at Fulton Saturday, Sept. 17, where California's Lizzy Kirby finished in sixth place with 21:03. Ashlee Davis followed in 18th place with 21:49.

"We had another good meet," California Coach Josh Grotzinger said. "The girls continue to improve and beat girls they haven't beat before. Lizzy led the way with a dazzling sixth place finish, barely losing to one of the top Class 2 girls in the state. Ashlee also had another huge improvement, running a new personal record. Leah Korenburg and Regan Downing continued their upward swing, also running new personal records of 23:43 and 24:04, respectively. All the girls just keep doing things they've never done before. It's really fun to watch them race because they're always improving. It doesn't seem like their's a limit to how much better they can get!"

Grotzinger said the Pintos had a big day as well, led by Devon Huff with 18:53.
