Drama Club presents 'Harvey'

The California High School Drama Club presented the well-known play "Harvey" on Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31, in the high school auditorium.

Nurse Wilson, Dr. Sanderson, and Dr. Chumley speak with Elwood Dowd, Veta Simmons, Judge Gaffney and Myrtle Mae Simmons as they attempt to work out the problem caused by Veta being committed.

The play, with a main character who is never seen, was first presented onstage Nov. 1, 1944 at the 48th Street Theater in New York City.

It became better known after a film version starred Jimmy Stewart.

The CHS version of the comedy written by Mary Chase was all in either the library of the Elwood Dowd home or a mental health facility.
