Pintos snag wins from Tigers
Tuesday, April 3, 2012
The California Pinto baseball teams hosted Versailles March 27 at the California Sports Complex, where both the varsity and JV captured a win from the Tigers.
California's varsity won 7-6.
"The california bats finally started to emerge," California Caoch Dwight Fitzwater said. "We're still not hitting to our potential, but we did have 10 hits to their four hits."
The Tigers led 3--2 after the first inning, however, the Pintos added two runs in the second inning and held Versailles scoreless to lead 4-2 going into the third inning. The Tigers scored three runs in the fifth inning to lead 6-4, however, California scored two in the sixth to even the score at 6-6. The Pintos secured the win with one run in the seventh.
"Our defense was suspect," Fitzwater said. "We have to play better with the leather or we are going to have difficulty winning games. Our pitching, however, was much better."
