California hosts first home meet of 2012 season

The California High School tracksters participated in their first home meet of the season April 10, the California Invitational, where many Pintos and Lady Pintos were top finishers in their event. Other participating teams included Jamestown, Prairie Home, Tipton, Bunceton and Helias JV.

In the girls' division, the final team standings are as follows: 1. California; 2. Helias JV; 3. Bunceton; 4. Tipton; 5. Jamestown; and 6. Prairie Home.

"We are so much bigger than the other schools, so we're going to have more athletes competing, therefore more points," California Coach Rick Edwards said regarding the final team standings, which he said aren't what matters at this particular meet. "I like having this meet because it gives the Moniteau County schools a nice close meet to go to, plus it gives us a chance to get every kid in four events."
