Children who participated in the Summer Reading Club at Wood Place Public Library, California, were all invited to the "Out of This World" Party at California United Church of Christ (UCC). There was plenty of fun to be had at the church which was decorated as a galactic marketplace including games, crafts and plenty of cool goodies to buy with tickets earned throughout the summer. Library Director Connie Walker said there were 136 children in the three reading groups who were eligible to attend the party and most of them made it out for the fun.

"We worked last night and today setting up the party with the all important marketplace and the game and activity booths," Walker said, "and it looks like they are having a lot of fun. We are very pleased with the growth of the summer reading program over last two years. There were 196 children signed up and program attendance was great. The largest attendance at a Thursday evening program was 48 children. New this year, our toddler program which was held on Wednesday mornings was very well attended. Because of this, we will continue the toddler storytime on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. throughout the year."
