Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, California, Pastor Bill Romans said it was in 1990 that he felt the call to ministry. He was not very interested in doing it and felt he was not the right one to do it. But the call persisted and later he surrendered and started doing supply preaching. He soon found out there was something to what God was doing as the first two churches he supply preached called him to be their pastor. After some initial resistance he eventually accepted a church and has been primarily a bi-vocational preacher ever since also working with the United States Postal Service for over 26 years.

"It has been good," Romans said, "It always is when you are serving the Lord. Every now and then I try to go my own way and He corrects me. But I really enjoy preaching and teaching and want to do it as accurately as I can. That is what Paul exhorted Timothy to do, preach the word, in season and out of season. Right now it seems we are primarily out of season and even within churches they do not necessarily want to hear the word."

Romans has been pleased with Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He was connected with the church when after sending out his information for supply preaching, they asked him to preach at their church. He would go on to preach at the church four times and later they would interview him and extend the call to be their pastor.
