Upcoming Road Work for Mid-Missouri

Road crews will be performing a variety of chip seal work on Mid-Missouri roads the next few weeks. The work is designed to extend the life of the pavement.

Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Drivers should lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

• Safety improvements to two intersections on U.S. 54 - Shepherd Hills Road and Route CC - are now complete.

The improvements to the Shepherd Hills intersection include new acceleration and deceleration lanes on eastbound 54 and a longer, offset left-turn lane from westbound 54 onto Shepherd Hills.

At CC, the improvements include a longer deceleration lane on westbound 54 and a median acceleration lane from CC to 54 eastbound.

In addition, the changes involve a new traffic movement for motorists traveling eastbound on 54 from the Lake of the Ozarks area to CC.

Those travelers must drive about 500 feet past the CC intersection to a J-turn that will direct them to CC. Signs will then provide additional travel information.

Lighting and guard rail were also installed at both intersections.
