GED classes to be held at Library

GED classes are set to start in California. The classes are offered by Jefferson City Public Schools Office of Adult Education and Literacy. They are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings on the second floor of the Wood Place Library in California. The classes are free and open to the public. There are a few minor changes to enrollment this year. All new students will need to attend two nights of new student orientation before being officially enrolled. There will be one week of orientation offered each month. This applies to everyone including former students. In addition to studying in class, there will be offered a free online class. Even though there are ways to study for the GED online, the official GED test cannot be taken online. The first orientation session will be Aug. 27 and Aug. 29 at 5:30 p.m. The next orientation session will be Sept. 10 and 12 at 5:30 p.m. If students have any questions, they may call local teacher Julie Wingate at (573)694-0193, or call the Adult Education and Literacy office in Jefferson City at (573)659-3122.
