Moniteau County Primary Candidate filing

The Moniteau County Clerk's Office will be accepting declarations of candidacy for the Aug. 7 Primary Election, beginning Feb. 28, at 8 a.m. through March 27 at 5 p.m.

Declarations will be accepted for the following Moniteau County offices, which will be seeking their respective party's nomination for the General election that will be held Nov. 6:

• District One County Commissioner

• District Two county Commissioner

• Sheriff

• Assessor

• Public Administrator

• Coroner

• Surveyor

Township Committeeman and Township Committeewoman political officers shall also file during this period and will be elected at the Primary Election.

First day files will select a number by random drawing to determine ballot placement on the primary ballot. After the first day, candidates will be placed on the ballot in the order of their filing. Filers will need to present a copy of Candidate Tax Affidavit, Form 5120, from the Missouri Department of Revenue. This affidavit states the candidate is not delinquent in the payment of any state income taxes, personal property taxes or real estate property taxes on their place of residence. Filers will pay to their respective political party a filing fee of $50 and a $3 fee to the County.

Candidate's requirements and responsibilities pertaining to the filing of a Personal Financial Disclosure Statement and Campaign Finance Reporting Statements will be given to the candidates at the time of filing.
